Assisted by a young Nick Knight, McKell travelled to Southend, through north and east London and hung out around ‘The Last Resort’, a legendary skinhead shop and meeting place on Petticoat Lane. Around 20 copies were sold at the time, with the remainder being given to prospective clients or kept by McKell in his archive. Nick Knight used one of McKell’s images from the book in his later publication ‘Skinhead’ which went on to become a bible for those interested in skinhead culture.
